Research 5 :

My Topic:
SNS election campaign should be allowed.

What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to get information about  examples of using sns.

Notes:
1.Through SNS channels, people have evolved from their traditional role as the audience,” said Jeong Ji-hoon, director of the Information Technology Convergence Center, Kwandong University.

2. The political leverage of SNS was proven in last year’s April by-elections, Seoul City’s free school meals referendum and the mayoral by-election, all of which were regarded as tests for this year’s votes.

3.In the Oct. 26 Seoul mayoral race, civic activist Park Won-soon overcame his handicap as an independent candidate and convincingly beat the Grand National Party’s Na Kyung-won, a success largely attributable to his support from prominent Twitter users.

4. The greatest political effect of SNS is the potential rise in voter turnout, according to Chang Duk-jin, sociology professor at Seoul National University.“The use of SNS will affect the election results by up to 12 percent,” Chang said.

5. Such moves led to the development of new smartphone applications ― indicating nearby voting stations, offering cyber badges to those who confirmed their locations near polling stations, and sharing the SNS details of people with similar political inclinations.

6.“Despite some side effects and attempts to abuse it, SNS is fundamentally a free communication space and should stay that way,” Chang said.

Final Thoughts:

I could get information that the use of sns can affect the election results.

Introduction

As the number of Internet users is growing, a growing number of people are using SNS(Social Networking Services) such as Facebook and Twitter. Actually, finding people who don't use SNS is more difficult in our daily lives. Think about our lives. Many users engage the world through thoughts and views shared over one or more SNS and SNS is changing our lives as many people prefer socializing online. Also, it is the open door to meeting and communicating with other people. Because of this feature that we can communicate and share our opinion on SNS and its influence to our life is more and more growing, candidates and their supporters use SNS as election campaign tool. SNS can make them communicate with voters and show good images to them and attract them. In here, election campaign is that people who want to support the candidate post something that appeal to select that candidate. Some people think the rapid spread of information about candidates can be misused by some bad people, but I think SNS election campaign should be allowed.

1. Attention grabber -
I attracted the audience by describing a familiar things to them, Internet and SNS.

2. Explains the topic -
I said the feature of the SNS first, and then said candidates and their supporters use SNS as the tool of election campaign in the recent past.

3. My thesis -
My argument is "I think SNS election campaign should be allowed." and I think it is clear argument.

My Topic:

SNS election campaign should be allowed.

What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to get evidence that we should respect the freedom of expression on the SNS.

Notes:

1. The basic of the democracy is guaranteeing the freedom of expression and thought. The fundamental human right on the Internet is started from the peoples' animated participation and every people who use the Internet can exert sovereignty.
(Jeffersonian Liberalism)

2. If government suppress or  control certain thought and expression, it is the act that repress the human right on the cyber space.

3. The power of Internet is not the power over others but the power with others. This kind of power is made of free communication and concentration.

Final Thoughts:
I could get information about the netizens have claimed Jeffersonian Liberalism.

Week 3 : Classical Argument Outline

Classical Argument Outline

1. The introduction
I will start by describing the situation everyone is already familiar with:
Seventy-two percent of the Korean population use the Internet and lots of people use sns like twitter and facebook. Then I will tell the uses and influences of sns and one of them is election campaign. I will describe the strategy that Park Geun Hye use in sns.  I will end my thesis, "SNS election campaign should be allowed."
2. The narration

I have to provide information about what is sns and how much sns is closely connected with our life because the influence and ripple effect of SNS is the most important thing in my essay. Also, I have to provide the differentiated effect of SNS compared to the other method of election campaign.

3. The confirmation

I will examine the strong points of  sns when it is compared to other methods that are used in election campaign.(a two way communication) Then, I will examine that voters have the liberty expression on the cyber space like sns. I will also examine that it can encourage participation to politics

4. The refutation and concession

I will concede that the liberty of expression related to election campaign can cause the spread of misinformation and confusion. However, there is a law system in Korea that spreading false information on the Internet is a punishable act. Also, because of a rapid spread, false information can be corrected by right information.

5. The summation
I will close with a summary of my previous points, then I emphasize the positive effect of election campaign through sns again. I will end with a reaffirmation of my original thesis.
